Emilija Nicic – Vranje

I’ve always been the type of person who is great at school, but I still prefer to explore the world outside of it. I used to go to a lot of workshops on different topics, and from time to time I was a volunteer. However, my story, as far as non-formal education is concerned, I would say starts in October 2016, when I became a volunteer of the Center. I went through various adventures both in the office and outside, and I realized how informal education is actually good and important, because besides learning some new things about various topics, through non-formal education, you build yourself, your own thinking, get out of your comfort zones and expand your views and your consciousness, and then help others to do the same. I was fortunate to have been welcomed by wonderful people with whom it was incredibly good to work, but also to have a cup of coffee, and through various projects I met many of them from different cities, as well as from other countries. All in all, I realized there that non-formal education brings one more thing – friends and acquaintances for a lifetime. It has been almost a year and a half now since I am actively engaged in social work, and I decided to do this when I realized how many changes my city, and the society around us at all need and that although our efforts sometimes seem invisible, it always pays off, because even the smallest change in the world is very important and great. In addition to all this, I am trying to connect the learned in formal and learned in non-formal education, and to organize it all nicely. I plan to enroll in college in the future, I’m still not sure which one, but definitely I’m dealing with something in my life where I can apply everything that non-formal education gave me.
